For this course lots of energy, enthusiasm and imagination is required. We work on all basic stage craft as well as covering commedia dell'arte, working actions, ensemble, vocal technique and improvisation. It is amazing how much we manage to squeeze into a small amount of time. Above all we have huge amounts of fun!
Born in York, Julia Clarke began working with children at the age of 16. She pursued her love of theatre as a member of Youth Theatre Yorkshire. Having completed a degree in Performing Arts, at St Martin's College Lancaster, she moved to London in 2001 to study acting at The Courtyard Theatre. Since then she has worked for a number of companies, taking part in touring productions and facilitating workshops in dance, drama and music including BYT's production of Peter Pan, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, and Fiddler on the Roof. Her current projects include Acting Up in Tring, Berkhamsted, Abbot's Langley. She continues to work with, Swan Youth Centre in Berkhamsted, Espinosa Dance Centre, Compass Extended Schools Project, Cross Keys Camps for Kids and more recently volunteering for Northchurch Rainbows. She believes that theatre for young people should aspire to the highest standard in terms of both process and product.
